Its members include all the Latin American nations, Canada, and the United States. France, Great Britain, and the Netherlands are also associated with the organization on behalf of their departments and territories in the Western Hemisphere. The organization cooperates with members in developing public services, collects health statistics, and aids in the control of communicable diseases.
